Emirates Golf Club's second championship golf course, which opened in 1996, was named 'The Wadi', taken from the Arabic word for 'valley'. Redesigned in 2005 by golf legend and six-time major winner Nick Faldo, the course now combines a stunning visual design with the nuances and challenges of any championship course in just the right measure, providing visitors an exceptionally enjoyable golfing experience.
A natural wadi running the length of the course comes in to play without being classified as a hazard, and along with Faldo's trademark tees and bunkers are combined with the naturally rugged terrain to create a unique golfing experience.
Ben & Dubai Golf Holidays Analysis - The Faldo designed course circles around the outside of its more famous sister The Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club. Interestingly although they are virtually next door they play and feel very differently, with The Faldo course also being floodlit which means play can continue until about 12pm, meaning Emirates Golf Club as a complex tends to run on an 18 hour operation per day with just a few hours closure.
The Faldo course has improved year on year and has quite a bit of water on the Front 9 to think about. The course can be more scoreable on the shorter tee boxes, but go back to the Scratch Handicap and Professional tees and expect a very different story with many approaches needing a long iron or hybrid in your hand.
The last is a great Par 4 which when the club pop the pin on the right hand side can be extremely difficult to get close with the worry of dumping your ball in the water to finish your round.
A must play under the lights, many of our clients bolt this course on to experience night golf in Dubai and also have that iconic Dubai Marina skyline all lit up when playing their round.
